Lee Mark Ranaldo is an American guitarist, singer and songwriter, best known as a co-founder of the rock band Sonic Youth. In 2004, Rolling Stone ranked Ranaldo at number 33 on its "Greatest Guitarists of All Time" list. In May 2012, Spin published a staff-selected top 100 guitarist list, ranking Ranaldo and his Sonic Youth bandmate Thurston Moore together at number 1.
He released a new solo album, Electric Trim in September 2017 on the Mute label. This album was recorded in New York and Barcelona in collaboration with producer Raul Refree Fernandez. We find other collaborators like Sharon Van Etten who sings on six of the tracks of this last album, Kid Millions (aka Man Forever) as well as his long time friend and collaborator Nels Cline (Wilco). Ranaldo collaborated with New York author Jonathan Lethem (Motherless Brooklyn / The Fortress of Solitude) for the lyrics of six of his songs. Recorded at the Modern Epicerie in March 2018, this concert transports us to a universe at the crossroads of Neil Young and Wilco where we find a sometimes psychedelic, folk rock, but always carefree Lee Ranaldo.
