In the Republic of Venice, which saw them be born and transformed opera into an industry, the competition between opera theaters was undoubtedly never so fierce and at the same time as fruitful as during the Carnival. 1729 offers a striking testimony to this with no less than six productions, covers or creations by Albinoni, Giacomelli, Leo, Orlandini, Porpora and Vinci, on display at the Teatro San Cassiano, San Giovanni Grisostomo and San Moisè, where s' faced stars such as Faustina (Bordoni), Farinelli and Senesino.
