Egyptian Project is the fertile meeting of five musicians between Nantes and Cairo, each expert in his instrument, a concentrate of talent from the Eastern Mediterranean. Infusion rather than fusion, Egyptian Project offers an electro-acoustic current.
The result of more than 10 years of work between Egypt and France, the group combines the pure Egyptian tradition (maqsoum, baladi or ayoub) with atmospheres of trip hop, electro, hip hop or even classical music.
It is a music ensemble that is a result of an unprecedented meeting between Jérôme Ettinger, artistic director of the project and the disciples of an Egyptian tradition. The band is the result of a long and committed collaboration between the defenders of Egyptian tradition and a young French musician who mix the sounds of the Nile delta and Cairo. Their music is a fusion of Egyptian percussions, kawala flute, arghûl, drum and rababa.
