There was already Martha Reeves, Martha Wash, and of course Martha High… And here is Marta Ren, new flamboyant soul-funk sensation, made in Europe this time. If she still looks very young in her alluring sexy outfits, the singer from Porto has not fallen overnight like a stealthy media buzz. Since the years 90-2000 already rife in Portugal a terrible star combo aptly named "The Bombazines" which ardently announced the color! That of an incandescent soul with deep-funk tones of the sixties, maintaining with passion and respect the typical spirit of a golden age which from Nashville to Memphis, from Chicago to Detroit via Brooklyn (NY) will have pantheonized a musical style that has become timeless because it is constantly regenerated.
Porto soul diva Marta Ren & The Groovelvets hit the deep funk scene hit her debut album “Stop Look Listen” in 2016 anticipated from the first single "I'm Not A Regular Woman", which got airwaves all over Europe ( BBC 6, Rai Radio 1, Radio France). Marta Ren is pure dynamite and stands comparison with the Soul Sisters of the 60s. She is not a newcomer as she has been around in the Portuguese scene since the mid 90s lending her deep and powerful voice. Marta's passion has always been for the deepest funk and rawest soul of the sixties, and now the time has come for her to show the world her immense talent.
With a powerful voice that would make the founding soul sisters proud, Marta Ren is looking to rule the world and make herself a household name. Fans of Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings get on it!
Cast: Marta Ren (Vocals), Hugo Danin (Drums), Pedro Ferreira (Bass), Paulo Saraiva (Guitar), Sergio Alves (Keyboards), Manuel Gonçalves (Percussions, Guitar), Tiago Ferreira (Trumpet)
