Pethrol is a drums / voice duo, composed of Cédric Sanjuan and Héloïse Derly. Their work of composition and creation is adjusted around a hybrid will; that of mixing both acoustic and digital sounds.
Although difficult to classify within a specific music category, the group is viewed by audiences as part of the new wave of electro pop. Heloise's voice, a sort of oxymoron that is both violent and sweet, settles on electronic melodies created from synthesizers and other machines. Cédric's precise and technical percussions, behind his drums which combine acoustics and electronics, bring their energy and sensitivity.
From the organic compound from which it takes its name, Pethrol possesses the precious energy and infinite complexity for those who know how to pay attention. A substance by essence (no pun intended) curious and fascinating: telluric and yet at the crossroads of the elements, water, earth and fire, natural but often refined, vibrant with the countless possibilities of life, when it conceals through the human a darker side. Their music is the alliance of two complementary entities creating a contemporary music, borrowing sounds from pop and mixing multi-ethnic influences.
