This Dutch band NOVOX includes prior Cliffhanger member Dick Heijboer is an all instrumental project with a very cool attitude!

Their music seems to revisit many of the 70’s prog achievements, especially if we concentrate our attention in the Mellotron playing. Meanwhile, the jazz-rock and/or heavy leanings that are especially directed by the guitar and drum playing brings this bands musicality to much more contemporary grounds.
One of the amusing things about this band is the fact you can listen to it with a laid back and relaxed attitude, just letting yourself go with the flow, while you pin-point well disguised parts that will, undoubtedly, make your mind think of early Genesis. Then there are other parts, most times in the same track, that transport you to more Neo-Classic moodings, then Heavy-Prog, then….oh yes, it goes on and on.

It is exactly this candy flavored walkthrough in the meadows of sympho-jazzy-heavy-classical elements that makes this album a joyful ride. Complex music, very fusion with some metal leanings here and there, very well performed and composed, great keybords, even fantastic on some pieces, especialy on Be My Guest or Never mind, great musicianship and great ideas. Their music is all instrumental, with blistering guitars arrangements, excellent key passages and solid bass lines, not to mention that the drummer makes some crazy beats all over the place. This band deserve to be more known both by prog metal lovers and jazz fusion alike.
