The dramatic story of Samson Vyrin, written by Pushkin in the autumn of 1830, will be shown in the space of the Atrium of the Peter and Paul Fortress, which will turn into Pushkin's St. Petersburg of the 18th century.
The action of the one-act opera unfolds in the very heart of St. Petersburg, in an authentic atmosphere in which the viewer will be immersed in this story! The music of the opera-romance, as the composer himself calls his composition, is melodic and, despite the modernity of the period of creation, lyrical and pleasant for the perception of opera lovers of all generations. The images of the inconsolable father, the runaway daughter and the hero-seducer will be performed by soloists of the Mariinsky Theater: Maria Bayankina, Dmitry Koleushko, Artem Aleshin.
The author of the music is Alexander Smelkov, a famous St. Petersburg composer, whose work is in demand by different theaters around the world. His operas were repeatedly performed on the stage of the Mariinsky Theater. The world of Pushkin's fantasy in the space of the atrium will be created by the St. Petersburg director Arkady Gevondov.
This evening will be an unforgettable end to the summer season of the XXXI Festival "Palaces of St. Petersburg" and will leave memories for many years, because the concert will be held surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of St. Petersburg expanses with historical architectural monuments in combination with bridges and embankments. And the water area of the Neva by this time will already be an unforgettable sight: by the Day of the Navy, ships will arrive and will wait for their day, decorating the city with powerful beauty.
