Easter Gala Concert at Catherine Palace (Throne Hall)
The evening sun, reflected in the grandiose mirrors of the Throne Hall, will create a special atmosphere in combination with spiritual chants, which will be performed by the concert choir of the St. Petersburg Conservatory under the direction of the laureate of the St. Petersburg Government Prize Sergey Ekimov.
The regular audience of the festival knows and loves and looks forward to the performances of the brilliant, sophisticated, aristocratic Federico Mondelci. It seems that he has a magical secret, because he leads the listeners behind his musical instrument, like the hero of a fairy tale leads the magic pipe.
This time, Federico Mondelci will present not only his traditionally perfect interpretations of the classics of film music, but also a virtuoso interpretation on the saxophone of one of the most beautiful works, an all-time masterpiece in the history of music "Vocalise" by Sergei Rachmaninoff, as well as the premiere performance at the Festival of the suite from the musical "West Side Story". West Side Story, a musical that revolutionized the Broadway genre, caused a sensation not only on Broadway, but all over the world.
Well, a festive gift for the audience will be the participation in the concert of the famous Russian saxophonist, laureate of all-Russian and international competitions, the first winner from Russia in the prestigious competition named after A. Saks, Sergey Kolesov. A friendly duet-competition of outstanding saxophonists of the two countries will be a bright facet of the festive evening.
Federico Mondelci is one of the most significant saxophonists of our time, winner of the Golden Saxophone Award. World critics call Federico Mondelci "A musician who can perform absolutely everything on the saxophone"! Federico has represented Italy at international saxophonist festivals and has performed as a soloist with all major orchestras, including the La Scala Philharmonic Orchestra.
