Around the affect of joy, Jour de Fête (Celebration Day) aims at a popular celebration of which the music is the sound translation. The correspondences between music and wine are a research which fascinates Magic Malik.
Magic Malik (real name Malik Mezzadri) was born in Côte d'Ivoire and grew up in Guadeloupe. He learned the recorder in a school at the age of 6. Then he discovered the flute at the age of 13 and soon worked on the classical repertoire from Bach to Debussy and Stockhausen. He then joined the reggae group Human Spirit with which he discovered improvisation on stage and played for 10 years.
At the same time, he multiplied collaborations: with Lio, Laurent Garnier and St Germain. Then he met the jazz saxophonist Julien Lourau at festivals and joined his group the Groove Gang in 1998. In 2000 he founded the Magic Malik Orchestra and recorded the first album under his nom_"69 96"_ for Label Bleu. In 2003, on the occasion of his 2nd album, he began a collaboration with the American saxophonist Steve Coleman. During the 2000s Magic Malik worked with many artists of the new generation: the singer Camille, the duo Bumcello, the jazzman Pierrick Pédron, the Trinidadian poet and slammer Anthony Joseph and the Malian singer Oumou Sangaré.
In 2010 he recorded his first CD for the Bee Jazz label and obtained a scholarship for a residency at the Villa Medici in Rome. In 2013 Magic Malik released the album Tranz denied with Gilbert Nouno, DJ Oil and drummer Hubert Motteau, a work that navigates between contemporary music, electro, pop and jazz.
