Gunwood is Gunnar Ellwanger (guitars, lead vocals), Joao Francisco "Jeff" Preto (bass, harmonica, banjo, percussion, vocals) and David Jarry Lacombe (drums AND keyboards, vocals). From Gladiators to Dubliners via Leonard Cohen, everything is a pretext for endless musical games.
These three guys, far from any nostalgia, were born at the right time since the sound of the 90s has passed on their roots and if bluegrass, folk or blues form the basis of their influences, they are not deprived of listening Rage Against the Machine or Radiohead. This first album, Traveling Soul, gives an immediate smile. Images flow in, there are also beautiful, simple and humanistic values. To discover absolutely and without delay!
Gun is for Gunnar Ellwanger, born in England from German parents, his teenage years spent in the Parisian suburbs preceded by a childhood in Germany and you have a trilingual with a Scandinavian name. Go figure. A symbol of all the cultural intermingling that feeds Gunnar's identity. The wood is for the tree, its deeply embedded roots and far-reaching branches, akin to all of the life journeys that merge and separate, that break and grow back stronger.
Why choose between folk poetry and hard rock, the freedom of the seventies and the edginess of the nineties, Irish harmonies and American topography when you can mix it all up and spread new sprouts?
Cast: Gunnar Ellwanger (Guitars Lead Vocals), Joao Francisco "Jeff" Preto (Bass Harmonica), Banjo (Percussion Vocals), David Jarry Lacombe (Drums Keyboards Vocals)
