Barrio Populo was a French chanson group. The band mixes alternative Rock and French chanson. Formed in 2008 and based in Saint-Étienne, it is composed of eight musicians. After three albums released in 2012 and 2016 respectively, the band releases their latest opus, Cris D'Écrits in November 2017. On December 2017, a press release announced the end of the Band.
Singing freedom, unleashing joy, building revolt, crying and crying out for love, feet on the ground, head in the moon, living poetry. It is this passionate life that Barrio Populo wants to express through rock music that is generous in energy, sometimes suffering, often fiery and combative. These 8 young musicians have been able to transform their influences to create a music that resembles them.
They draw on the good old recipes of rock, pop and French chanson and don't hide it. "Désordre", their debut album, is a garden of multiple flowers growing in the same soil, connected by the same song. A song in French with deep lyrics, where wild plants, roses of love and wild grasses grow. Barrio Populo goes its way; more than 150 concerts in 2 years throughout France and abroad.
Living in the same house in the middle of the countryside, they try to live in an alternative and autonomous way... Barrio Populo proposes disorder as a necessity and a prelude to the reconstruction of a different way of thinking. And this madness, this search for utopia, this love of freedom transpires in their music, it is their weapon, their discourse, their message.
