Live Concert of the Russian-Chinese Symphony Orchestra
SigmArt, in partnership with Myasnikov Mansion, is delighted to present the Concert of the Russian-Chinese Symphony from one of the most historical music venues in St Petersburg, on the 31st of May 2025 at 17.00 BST (19.00 MSK) exclusive Live streaming on SigmArt.
The program will feature works by legendary composers: Vivaldi, Tchaikovsky, Piazzolla, Ravel and many others.
The concert will be held in the Myasnikov Mansion, a historical and cultural monument of the XIX century, which has retained the atmosphere of pre-revolutionary St. Petersburg. In the last century, the mansion was the main point of attraction for the country's high society. Nikolai Karabchevsky's salons brought together not only representatives of the world of science and education, but also creative people of art: Matilda Kshesinskaya, Vsevolod Meyerhold, Fyodor Chaliapin and Leonid Sobinov.
The Russian-Chinese Symphony Orchestra (RCSO) has successfully presented a number of creative projects at the leading concert venues of Russia, including: the Concert Hall of the Mariinsky Theater, the Grand and Small Halls of the St. Petersburg Philharmonic, the State Academic Capella of St. Petersburg, the Atrium of the General Staff Building of the Hermitage and others.
The Team has 250 members - a symphony orchestra, a choir, a troupe of solo instrumentalists and vocalists. The Founders of the ensemble are conductors Victoria Dobrovolskaya (Russia) and Tongruo Zheng (China). Both women are graduates of the St. Petersburg Conservatory, both are students of the same professor, conductor of the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Vladimir Abramovich Altshuler.
This is the only orchestra in the world in which there are two chief conductors and artistic directors at the same time, representing the same conducting school, but different countries and traditions. It is this structure, according to the leaders of the Russian Symphony Orchestra, that is the most optimal for working with a Russian-Chinese collective, consisting of half Russian and half Chinese musicians.
During its existence, the orchestra has developed an extensive repertoire, including world masterpieces of classical music, Russian and Chinese traditional opera, music from ballets, compositions for solo folk instruments (balalaika, erhu, domra, bamboo flute, psaltery, pipa) with a large symphony orchestra, famous cantatas, popular film music, arrangements of Russian and Chinese folk songs for a symphony orchestra. Outstanding soloists of our time work with the orchestra.
The RCSO has initiated a Mentoring Program, which provides young musicians with a unique opportunity to gain professional experience under the guidance of accompanists and soloists of the best orchestras of our time - bearers of legendary performing traditions.
