Born in Namur, a star in Renaissance Italy. Jacques Arcadelt was a name known by scholars of Ancient Music for a long time as a Franco-Flemish composer. We knew that he had put Michelangelo's poems to music, that he was a great success and that Monteverdi, at the beginning of the 17th century, was astonished that in his time still more collections of books were sold in Italy of works of Arcadelt than of himself.
