Mathieu Dupouy studied with Christophe Rousset at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, where he won the first prizes for harpsichord and basso continuo unanimously. He then perfected his skills with Pierre Hantaï, Olivier Baumont and Christophe Coin. He also studied the pianoforte with Patrick Cohen and the organ with Georges Guillard at the CNR in Paris.
He plays the clavichord, the fortepiano and the harpsichord in equal measure, from early music to contemporary music by composers such as François-Bernard Mâche, Bruno Mantovani, Ivan Fedele, Brice Pauset, Richard Dubugnon and Henri Dutilleux. He has performed with ensembles and orchestras such as the Musiciens du Louvre, the Dissonances, the Concert d'Astrée, Le Baroque nomade, Elyma.
On July 14, 2018 at the Château d'Assas, built during the 1750s and 1760s by the architect Jean-Antoine Giralhe, participated in the Scarlatti 555 sonatas project led by France Musique and broadcast by France 25.
