ETSAUT brings together a quartet of jazz musicians and a distinguished guest from the current traditional scene. The repertoire comes from the personal compositions of Laurent Cabané. Etsaut offers music at the crossroads of jazz, traditional music and world music.
ETSAUT takes its name from a village in the Pyrenean mountains between Béarn and Spain, the cradle of Laurent Cabané's paternal family. In his imagination, his childhood memories color this name with joy and harmony, feelings and sensations that inspire his music emanating from the musical cultures he evokes.
ETSAUT is a quintet at the borders of jazz, traditional and world music. A bit like a cauldron in which bagpipes, traditional flutes, buzuk, sax, oud, double bass, piano, sing the praises of jazz, blues, Irish jig, chaabi and bikoutsi. Its five virtuoso musicians invite the audience to leave the beaten track to walk, between intimacy and catchy rhythms, to meet new musical mixes.
The quintet has been critically acclaimed since its first premiere with "Jazz et Cornemuse" in 2011.
