On stage, Tomasa Guerrero Carrasco becomes La Macanita, one of the great voices of Cante Jondo.
Known by a nickname derived from that of her father, the palmero and accompanist El Macano, this Jerez-born singer is considered one of the most prominent figures of today's flamenco. At age 4 she appeared singing and dancing on the television series Rito y Geografía del Cante. Since then she has toured prestigious tablaos in Spain and participated in international festivals.
This original queen of flamenco began her career under the wing of Manuel Morao, participating in local concerts and moving the halls of Madrid. But it is thanks to Manolo Sanlúcar and his album Tauromagia - to which she lends her voice - that La Macatina reaches fame. Following this springboard, in 1995 she published her first album, Con El Alma. The beginning of a long and beautiful solo career, made of prestigious collaborations all around the Mediterranean.
