Far from the clichés of Latin American music, the Colombian blues does exist and FatsO is the best demonstration of it. Born in Bogota into an extraordinary network of musicians from eclectic backgrounds, the group founded in 2012 by bassist Daniel Restrepo, a true dignitary of music in his country, oscillates between bluesy fanfare, rebellious rock and old-school jazz. With his deep and scratchy tone, as rocky as the groove of his instrument is massive, the leader of this formidable quartet, bringing together the cream of national sizes, does not hide his influences: from Ray Charles to Joe Cocker via Tom Waits and Léonard Cohen, all the grown-ups he drank as a child thanks to his father's huge collection of records.

They possessed everything the jazz scene was missing, edge, tone, strength and time packaged in a Blues, soul, jazz and Rock band with class A improvisers a contemporary raspy voice and a unique live performance that put them on the map.

Three number one hits on national radio, important local music prize nominations (Premios Shock) and a very successful first album made fatsO ready to amaze other countries. And so they did, achieving the number one slot of the eight available spots to showcase at Jazz Ahead in Germany.
