La Cenerentola, ossia La bontà in trionfo ("Cinderella, or Goodness Triumphant") is an operatic dramma giocoso in two acts by Gioachino Rossini. The libretto was written by Jacopo Ferretti, based on the libretti written by Charles-Guillaume Étienne for the opera Cendrillon with music by Nicolas Isouard (first performed Paris, 1810).
Composed in a few weeks by a young Rossini of 25 years in the wake of the success of his Barber of Seville, La Cenerentola is inspired by the tale of Charles Perrault, but the librettist Jacopo Ferreti does not retain the most fantastic aspects. Here no coach, no pumpkin, but a bracelet replacing the traditional vair slipper. The evil stepmother has become a spendthrift and comic stepfather, and the good fairy a beggar philosopher.
Director: Jean Bellorini (Director), Antonello Allemandi (Conductor)
Cast: Clara Meloni (Clorinda), Emily Fons (Angelina - Cinderella), Julie Pasturaud (Tisbe), Taylor Stayton (Don Ramiro), Armando Noguera (Dandini), Roberto Lorenzi (Alidoro), Renato Girolami (Don Magnifico), Lille Opera Choir, Orchestre de Picardie
