The concert is part of the Venezia Jazz Festival, organized by Veneto Jazz.
Salvador Sobral is the singer who bewitched the audience and the jury of the Eurovision Festival, conquering everyone and making his name leap to the forefront of the European music scene. He has an extraordinary voice, he has timbre and technique, he supports the phrases of the sinuous Portuguese language with the same sensitivity of a jazz interpreter. Seeing him move on stage using every gesture for the sole purpose of accompanying the song, with a completely anti-pop attitude, smacks of oxygen and truth.
After spending some time in the United States and 4 years in Barcelona, studying jazz at the prestigious Taller de Música school, he returned to Portugal at the end of 2014. In those years, Salvador Sobral developed several musical projects: he wrote songs for himself and his debut album showcases this singer-songwriter side of him. At the same time, he has created his own artistic and design path inspired by figures such as Chet Baker, or acquiring sounds often influenced by bossa nova and the sweet sounds of Latin America.
"TIMBRE" marks the long-awaited comeback of Salvador Sobral. The Portuguese musician's fourth studio album includes 11 new original songs, 10 written in collaboration with Latin Grammy-nominated Leo Aldrey, who is also responsible for producing the album. "The name TIMBRE came about for two main reasons. The first, perhaps the most obvious, is that first and foremost in this life I am a singer, an interpreter, and my voice, my timbre is what defines and distinguishes me. The second reason is that I'm interested in the concept of timbre as a color, the color of the voice, the color of the instruments. The disc will be like a colorful palette of timbres that trigger clarity. And there's a third reason for the album's name: the word timbre is used in many Latin and Germanic languages. It is spelled the same way and has the same meaning. It seems that the concept of TIMBRE is universal, and we all agree on that." – Salvador Sobral.
