Whether through the delicate sound of his sound sculptures, through the intense traces of his monoprints or through the thin lightness of his Diamond chair, Harry Bertoia’s artwork leaves a mark on the beholder.
His creations retain the emotions of a man who lived for art. They show the nostalgic memory of his native land, the attention towards Nature’s manifestations, the passion for his work and the leap towards an immortal dimension through it. The spirit of the artist lives in the objects he created and gets to us through them. In this documentary film it is Bertoia’s artwork that talks us about him, and we are accompanied by the words of the people who met him and loved him as an artist and as a man.
Let’s allow his artwork to excite us and to take us by the hand on a journey in Harry Bertoia’s life, from the parvis of the small church of San Lorenzo d’Arzene to the woods of the golden leaves of Pennsylvania.
